Eight Maschoff Brennan Attorneys Named to Utah Business Magazine’s Legal Elite

Utah Business Magazine released its 2018 Legal Elite rankings naming eight Maschoff Brennan attorneys including Eric Maschoff, Larry Laycock, David Wright, Richard Gilmore, Kirk Harris, Jason Nixon, Jared Braithwaite and Michael Howell. Utah Business Magazine’s Legal Elite is a listing of the top lawyers in Utah as voted by their peers.

Recognized for their work in Intellectual Property were:

Maschoff serves as the managing partner of Maschoff Brennan. His practice concentrates on strategic counseling, licensing and patent preparation and prosecution. He received his J.D. from the University of Utah and his B.S. in electrical and computer engineering from New Mexico State University. He’s also listed in Best Lawyers in America, Mountain States Super Lawyers and Chambers USA.

Laycock has extensive experience as lead trial counsel in complex and intellectual property litigation. His practice includes patent, trademark, trade secret, trade dress, copyright, and related complex litigation matters. He also has substantial experience in appellate, transactional, licensing, and legal opinion preparation for intellectual property matters. Larry has counseled clients regarding a wide range of technologies, including pharmaceutical, chemical, biotechnology and life sciences, electronic data storage, medical devices, nutritional supplements, exercise equipment, and thin film deposition, among others.  He is listed in Best Lawyers in America, Mountain States Super Lawyers and Chambers USA.

Wright’s practice focuses on complex and intellectual property litigation, including false advertising, unfair competition, theft of trade secret, and copyright, patent, and trademark infringement cases. He offers experience in transactional matters, such as licensing and contracts, as well as providing strategic counseling on implementing corporate IP policies and procedures.  He is listed in Best Lawyers and Mountain States Super Lawyers.

Gilmore is involved in all aspects on Intellectual property law, focusing on patent and trademark application preparation and prosecution domestically and internationally.  His patent practice includes utility and design patents, appeals to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Board of Appeals and Interferences, and reexamination proceedings.  Gilmore represents large and small clients from a diverse range of industries.  He is listed in Best Lawyers.

Harris’ practice focuses on complex business and intellectual property litigation, including patents, trademarks, trade dress, trade secrets, contracts, unfair business practices, and copyrights. He holds a J.D. from the University of Idaho and a B.S. in metallurgical engineering from the University of Utah. He has also been named as a Mountain States Super Lawyer.

Nixon’s practice focuses on patent preparation and prosecution, trademarks, copyrights, intellectual property licensing, and intellectual property litigations.  He is an Electrical Engineer with experience in algorithm development, wireless communication, signal and image processing, lasers and optics and software design and implementation.  He earned his J.D. from Lewis and Clark School of Law and his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Utah.  He is listed in Mountain States Super Lawyers “Rising Stars”.

Braithwaite’s practice focuses on intellectual property litigation, including disputes involving patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets.  He received his J.D. from Brigham Young University and his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Utah.  He has been listed in Mountain States Super Lawyers, Intellectual Property and Utah Business Magazine’s Legal Elite.

Howell’s practice focuses on intellectual property and complex commercial litigation.  He also has litigation experience regarding patents, trademarks, breach of contract, receiverships, reorganizations, real estate and construction.  Howell has participated in numerous trials, arbitrations and mediations.  He holds a J.D., cum laude, from J. Reuben Clark Law School and a B.S. from Brigham Young University.  He has been listed in Utah Business Magazine’s Legal Elite.
