Intellectual Asset Management magazine (IAM) recognized three Maschoff Brennan attorneys in its 2016 IAM Patent 1000 – The World’s Leading Patent Practitioners. The publication also recognized Maschoff Brennan as one of the top patent firms in the state of Utah. Shareholders Larry R. Laycock, Kevin K. Johanson and Eric L. Maschoff were listed as recommended attorneys.

Laycock’s practice focuses on complex and intellectual property litigation. He represents clients in matters relating to patents, trademarks, trade secrets, trade dress, copyrights and other complex litigation issues. The publication describes Laycock as a “veteran who has tried many cases to a successful verdict and hammered out favourable settlements behind the scenes in scores of others.” He’s also recognized by Best Lawyers in America, Mountain States Super Lawyers and Utah Business Magazine’s Legal Elite. Laycock received his J.D. from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University. He also received his B.A. from BYU.

Johanson’s practice focuses on advising clients regarding patent portfolio strategies and the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications, particularly in the electronic arts. He is particularly savvy in wireless communication, electronics, computer technology and software and was a practicing electrical engineer for several years. He received his J.D. from Arizona State University College of Law and he received his M.S. and B.S in electrical engineering from Brigham Young University.
