Maschoff Brennan Welcomes Back Sterling Brennan

July 29, 2020

PARK CITY, UT – July 29, 2020

Maschoff Brennan, a full-service intellectual property, technology, and complex litigation law firm, announced today the return of distinguished litigator Sterling Brennan.  Mr. Brennan, one of the firms’ co-founders, returns to active practice in the firm’s Orange County, California office after serving for three years as a mission president for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Michigan.

“I am thrilled to welcome back my friend and colleague,” said Tyson Hottinger, the firm’s California Managing Partner.  “Sterling is a well-respected trial lawyer with a depth of experience and knowledge that is unmatched. His creative thinking and experience will prove invaluable to our clients.”

Mr. Brennan has litigated intellectual property, securities, antitrust, unfair business practices, M&A, corporate, insurance coverage, and environmental cases. He’s represented some of the country’s largest companies involved in the software and computer components, smart home, solar and traditional energy, financial products and services, biotechnology, health services, energy and real estate industries.

“Sterling is an exceptional lawyer and offers our clients a wealth of experience and wisdom in business, intellectual property, litigation, and other strategic legal issues,” said Firm Managing Partner Kirk Harris.  “We are delighted and lucky to have Sterling back at the firm after his time away.”

Mr. Brennan is the former chairman of the Business Litigation Section of the Orange County Bar Association and the past chair of the Orange County J. Reuben Clark Law Society. After law school, Mr. Brennan served as a law clerk to a federal district judge in Los Angeles. He joined the international law firm of Morrison & Foerster, where he was a litigation partner until 2003, then joined mid-size IP boutique Workman Nydegger. In 2013, Mr. Brennan joined with colleagues to form Maschoff Brennan, where he served as the first chair of the firm’s robust litigation practice.

“I am happy to reunite with my former colleagues and look forward to closely collaborating with such a talented collection of intellectual property lawyers,” said Mr. Brennan.  “After a wonderful experience working with many young people, I’m excited to come back home and look forward to helping clients and mentoring the next generation of Maschoff Brennan leaders.”
