September 30, 2020

PARK CITY, UT – September 30, 2020

Maschoff Brennan is pleased to welcome Maren Laurence, Michael Tait, and Anthony Zhang as our newest associate attorneys. Maren is joining the firm’s litigation practice group, and Michael and Tony are joining the prosecution practice group.

“We are excited to welcome Maren, Michael, and Tony to our team,” said Kirk Harris, Managing Shareholder at Maschoff Brennan. ” We were able to get to know Maren, Michael, and Tony as summer clerks while they attended law school and were impressed by not only their exceptional work, but who they are as people too. We look forward to working with them and expect that they will do great things in the legal profession.”

Maren Laurence graduated from the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law and earned her Certificate of Specialized Study in Intellectual Property Law. While in law school, Maren worked at Maschoff Brennan as a summer associate. Additionally, she served as a judicial extern for Judge Jill M. Pohlman at the Utah Court of Appeals and worked at the University of Utah Technology & Venture Commercialization Office as a contract associate, handling contract negotiations and license agreements for materials and intellectual property. Prior to Maren’s legal career, she was a professional classical musician, performing in orchestras and as a soloist. She attended the Royal Academy of Music in London earning her master’s degree in harp performance.

Michael Tait received his J.D. from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, and his Masters of Engineering and Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering from Utah State University. Before practicing law, Michael worked for four years at Hill Air Force Base as an Electronics Test and Software Development Engineer where he developed user interfaces for pilots on the A-10 jet, created test procedures and tested new software for the A-10 technical requirements, and oversaw a team of ten test and development engineers. When not at work Michael enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, and takes part in a wide variety of sports including golf, basketball, and pickleball.

Anthony Zhang graduated from the University of Texas School of Law where he served as the administrative officer for the Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal. In law school, he focused on intellectual property and technology-related law through courses such as law and policy in the biopharmaceutical industry, patent prosecution and litigation, technology of cybersecurity and network security, and intellectual property law in the video game industry. While earning his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, Tony served as a publicity officer for the university’s Campus Events + Entertainment and managed the organization’s social media accounts and outreach. Outside of the office, Tony enjoys reading books, playing board games, and experimenting with new cooking recipes.
