MGI Hires Two Experienced Attorneys

September 6, 2012

Park City-based law firm Maschoff Gilmore & Israelsen (MGI) announced that Kirk R. Harris and Mark W. Ford have joined the firm. Specializing in intellectual-property law, MGI was founded in 2011, and has grown from eight to seventeen attorneys with the additions of Mr. Harris and Mr. Ford.

Mr. Harris is an experienced litigation attorney with an extensive background in metallurgical engineering, having worked with one of the largest steel manufacturing companies in the U.S. He joins MGI as a shareholder and his practice will continue to focus on litigating patent, trademark, trade secret and copyright cases for clients in a wide range of industries. He has twice been recognized as a “Utah Legal Elite” by Utah Business magazine.

Mr. Ford joins MGI as a senior associate, and will contribute to both its litigation and prosecution practices. He specializes in assisting individuals and corporate clients in acquiring and protecting their intellectual properties, including monetizing their assets by developing and implementing royalty-generating licensing campaigns. Prior to his legal career, Mr. Ford studied chemistry and electronics engineering, thus adding to MGI’s astute group of attorneys with technical backgrounds.

“We are excited that Kirk and Mark have joined MGI,” said founding shareholder and managing director Eric Maschoff. “They both have an impressive track record in achieving positive results in the courtroom. As skilled litigation attorneys they will be a great asset to MGI’s growing IP enforcement practice.”  “With the addition of Kirk and Mark, we have substantially increased the experience, expertise and bandwidth of MGI’s litigation group,” said C J Veverka, the head of MGI’s litigation department.  “Having successfully worked with both Kirk and Mark for many years at our former law firm, I’m excited they have decided to join our group.”
